Academy Members Recognized Among World’s Top 2% Scientists

The Lebanese Academy proudly celebrates its members who have been named among the world’s top 2% of scientists, according to the 2025 Stanford University global ranking. This recognition underscores the excellence, influence, and global reach of Lebanese scholars whose pioneering work continues to shape science, medicine, engineering, and the humanities worldwide.

The Academy extends its heartfelt congratulations to:

  • Prof. Toni K. Choueiri, Director of the Lank Center for Genitourinary Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Professor at Harvard Medical School, for his leadership in kidney cancer research and development of transformative cancer therapies.
  • Prof. William A. Zoghbi, Chair of Cardiology at Houston Methodist Hospital and Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College, for his innovations in cardiovascular imaging and his global advocacy for heart health.
  • Prof. André Mégarbané, Professor and Chair of Human Genetics at the Lebanese American University, for his pioneering work on hereditary diseases and genetic disorders in Lebanon and the Arab region.
  • Prof. Nada Abumrad, Dr. Robert C. Atkins Professor of Medicine and Obesity Research at Washington University in St. Louis, for her groundbreaking discoveries in fatty acid metabolism and metabolic diseases.
  • Prof. Ghassan Hage, Future Generation Professor of Anthropology and Social Theory at the University of Melbourne, for his seminal work on racism, nationalism, and multiculturalism that has redefined anthropological discourse.
  • Prof. Ibrahim H. Osman, Husni Sawwaf Endowed Chair in Business and Management at the American University of Beirut, for his leadership in business analytics, operations research, and artificial intelligence.
  • Prof. Rabab Kreidieh Ward, Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia, for her pioneering contributions to signal and image processing and her international leadership in engineering and education.
  • Dr. Jawad Fares, neurosurgeon-scientist at Northwestern University, for his groundbreaking work in neuro-oncology that has transformed the understanding of brain metastases and advanced precision approaches to glioma therapy.
  • Prof. Pascal E. Saikaly, Professor of Environmental Science and Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, for his advances in microbial ecology, bioprocess engineering, and sustainable water treatment.
