Biosketch
Dr. Niveen M. Khashab is a distinguished scientist and Professor of Chemistry at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), where she also serves as Associate Dean of Students for Physical Sciences and Engineering. She earned her B.S. in Chemistry from the American University of Beirut and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Florida, followed by postdoctoral training at UCLA and Northwestern University with Nobel Laureate Sir Fraser Stoddart. Dr. Khashab’s research centers on smart hybrid materials for drug delivery, biosensing, and environmental applications. She is widely recognized for her pioneering work in stimuli-responsive supramolecular systems and advanced encapsulation technologies. She has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and holds multiple patents. Her accolades include the Almarai Award for Innovation in Nanotechnology (2013), the L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science Award (2017), Fellowship of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2021), the Cram Lehn Pedersen Prize in Supramolecular Chemistry (2023), and the Great Arab Minds Award in Natural Sciences (2023), honoring her outstanding contributions to nanotechnology and supramolecular chemistry.
