Biosketch
Dr. Youssef Bakhach is a distinguished plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgeon specializing in microsurgery, currently serving as the President of the Lebanese Order of Physicians. Born on April 23, 1964, in Zahle, Lebanon, he pursued his medical education in France, earning his medical degree in 1992 and a Ph.D. in Human Biology Science in 1994 from the University of Bordeaux. He is a Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Department at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC), where he also heads the Hand and Microsurgery Unit. Dr. Bakhach led Lebanon’s first successful microsurgical toe-to-finger transfer, restoring hand functionality to a severely injured patient. In addition to his medical practice, he has been actively involved in social and professional advocacy, championing and promoting the free practice of medicine. He regularly participates in scientific conferences and medical initiatives and maintains an active presence in social circles to raise awareness about advancements in his field.
